Unhealthy US labour dispute leaves McDonald’s Japan a small fries order

mcdonalds-french-friesFor everyone who wants fast food outlets to serve better food – not quite so fatty, artery-clogging, but still delicious – all I can say is be careful what you wish for. McDonald’s in Japan is now going to offer only small servings of french fries. For love nor money, you’re not going to be able to buy a medium or large order of fries. But this is not a health measure. McDonald’s is not trying to keep us all in better shape. Instead, it is the domino effect of a protracted labour dispute at US West Coast ports. This has made for long delays in frozen fries imports – from two weeks to four weeks apparently – and McDonald’s in Japan wants to make sure it rations the nubby little fried tatties rather than just run out of them.
